Credit Unions for Kids is a cooperative effort of credit unions nationwide that raised millions of dollars each year for Children's Miracle Network (CMN) and its affiliated Children's Hospital. With Credit Unions for Kids, 100% of the funds raised in Nebraska go to the hospitals that serve Nebraskans.
Starting in 2010, the newest sponsorship the credit unions of Nebraska will tackle will be for a new child-friendly ambulance, the first of its kind for Children’s Hospital & Medical Center. It will provide specialized pediatric emergency transport service for sick children and babies throughout the region.
The new ambulance is equipped with medications and medical devices specifically designed for infants and children and for optimal safety and effectiveness. And Children’s now has a team of intensive care neonatal and pediatric nurses ready to deploy 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In some cases, a physician will accompany the two-nurse team. Parents can ride along in the front of the ambulance - another way to take some of the stress out of a frightening situation. And each child over the age of one will receive a teddy bear to hold during their ride and take home when they’re feeling better.
